About the project
Matterpieces is a strategy for buildings’ circularity and an upcycling solution for demolition waste: cladding materials for architecture and interior design. Matterpieces are made from inert waste from demolitions, like glass, bricks, cement, stones, etc., and can be used as floor and wall tiles, furniture tops, and kitchen countertops. Matterpieces combines an old crafters’ technique with a collaborative design process — a circular strategy that connects several industry actors to achieve the same goal in circular construction.
Matterpieces intends to be not only a new sustainable material, but also as a new strategy for architecture and construction, which brings together demolition/waste management companies, architects, bulders and material producers to achieve the same goal, circular construction.
About the studio
studio8 is an architecture and material design lab working between crafts and digital tools to bring forward new planet-centred solutions for space design, materials, and waste reclaim. The creative practice lies between the boundaries of architecture, material design, digital scenography and urban strategies.
