About Domile
As part of the Distributed Design Residency 2024 at Maker V-10, Domile Cepaityte, an industrial product designer and design strategist from Vilnius, Lithuania, explored innovative approaches to sustainable product design. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Domile’s work seamlessly bridges strategic thinking and technical craftsmanship, with a strong focus on circular materials and local production methods.
About the project
Rethinking everyday objects through a circular design approach
During the residency, Domile developed a dish drying rack concept, utilizing locally produced recycled plastic sheets. Through hands-on experimentation with material experimentation, and CNC milling , she refined her design into a functional yet aesthetically refined product, demonstrating how recycled materials can be transformed into high-quality, durable everyday objects. Experimentation with fabrication techniques were conducted in collaboration with other Distributed Design residents and technical staff from Maker V-10.
Her work was showcased alongside fellow Distributed Design residents at Kulturnatten 2024, highlighting the potential of localized, circular production in contemporary design. By pushing the boundaries of material reuse and digital fabrication, Domile’s project serves as an inspiration for designers seeking to create sustainable, locally made solutions that merge functionality with responsible production.
