About the project
This is a lab that will be a hybrid event that will have indegeneous knowledge leaders and creatives interacting one on one to create art that speaks deeply about climate related issues as guides by ancient wisdom.
We will begin by mapping out several issues in conjunction with your organisations through the citizen science data framework.This will be the issues that the indegeneous knowledge leaders will speak on and give insights about.Then we shall involve our already existing creative community and also do a creatives call out to meditate about the topics and possibly submit a sample.Then we shall invite them all together to create art in real time.Once art is created they will present it to an online audience and themselves.
We shall have the event in Kigali involving 6 indegeneous knowledge leaders and 10 artists of various mediums such as Musicians,poets,painters ,digital artists and many more mediums
We envision to use two days of that event.We can start the process immediately after we agree and the event can be in late September for further preparations.
About the project’s approach
Apart from making the art one on one with artists sharing ideas amongst each other ,we will be creating an open source document or template for each medium outlining how climate art can be generated from indegeneous knowledge and this can be shared to anyone around the world that wants to do it hence helping build and strengthen an ecosystem of regenerative climate creatives.The collaboration of indegeneous knowledge leaders with artists by them talking live as artists create makes the lab unique as well.
