In its third year, the Distributed Design Platform (DDP) is entering an exciting new phase focused on expanding the multi-stakeholder collaborative environment. Building on the strong foundations laid, the DDP will now work towards an international promotion phase, connecting local maker and designer communities across the globe.
DDP is expanding a globally-connected, collaborative ecosystem for designers, makers, and local communities by bridging gaps across borders through its core values of openness and cooperation. This platform empowers local designers and makers to share knowledge, co-create solutions, and foster sustainable, community-driven economies, while its partners facilitate networks of grassroots innovators that harness local expertise and creativity. Utilising digital platforms and distributed technologies, DDP enables global collaboration and knowledge-sharing, maintaining a focus on hyper-local design and production. Its initiatives contribute to a broader shift towards inclusive, regenerative, and environmentally-conscious design ecosystems, inspiring a new generation of design innovators committed to systemic change. By spotlighting specific projects, participants, and partner organisations, DDP brings its collaborative ecosystem to life, connecting with the human stories behind its network and fostering deeper engagement and understanding of its impact.
The Distributed Design Platform’s Supervisory Board has been invited to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of Fab City, which took place in Barcelona on July 6th 2024. The board’s guidance and support has been pivotal in the Fab City and DDP movement’s journey.
The 10th anniversary celebration was hosted at Green Leka in Can Valldaura, a venue that resonates deeply with the Fab City mission and vision. This location provided the perfect backdrop for the Supervisory Board to reflect on the past decade’s achievements and look ahead to the future of locally-productive, globally-connected cities.
This was a unique opportunity for the change makers to connect with fellow DDP and Fab City supporters, pioneers, and community members from around the world. The DDP Supervisory Board members were therefore able to share insights and experiences from their work on the platform, further strengthening the ties between the Fab City Foundation and DDP initiatives.
By aligning these core initiatives, digital strategies, and systemic impact, the Distributed Design Platform is growing and expanding globally-connected solutions, collaborative ecosystem for designers, makers, and local communities all around the world.
