About the project
I am a dedicated local change maker, focused on sparking positive change through weaving impact into all that I do. I am determined to navigate the world through distributed innovation, recognising the value of collaboration and tapping into diverse networks of people to drive change. I invite you to explore my portfolio of impactful projects from my past and present.
My background is diverse, I started out as a Graphic designer and maker and moved to work for over 10 years in homelessness projects including outreach mental health support, progression coaching and outreach arts co-ordinator. I have always been a campaigner for rights and for the true belief that everyone should have access to the life they want to lead. I have been based in Barcelona for the last 5 years where I managed the studios at Learnlife Barcelona, an educational startup connecting young people to their passions. I built a team of external studio experts from across the board and implemented impact into the projects produced, leading a large Sustain event and connecting our young people to circular futures. Within my role I developed many local and global connections to grow our vision and collaborate on meaningful design sprints for the community.

Maker Change Project
Currently we are building our community, but as we grow our goal is:
To empower communities to take action for nature through an interactive, co-designed bio-tree sculpture that:
-
Acts as a physical hub for environmental engagement.
-
Offers action cards with simple, sustainable challenges.
-
Integrates multi-sensory elements (sound, scent, touch) to deepen connection.
-
Uses open-source, locally sourced materials for adaptability and replication.
The project transforms urban spaces into collective action hubs, fostering environmental care and community participation.
Urban environments are increasingly disconnected from nature, leading to biodiversity loss, ecological degradation, and disengaged communities. Many citizens feel powerless in the face of environmental challenges, resulting in passive rather than active participation. Maker Change transforms this reality by introducing Bio-Trees—public sculptures made from sustainable biomaterials in Fab Labs. These open-source installations serve as interactive hubs, holding action cards with practical sustainability challenges, ancestral knowledge, and nature-based solutions that empower citizens to take action in their neighbourhoods.
Planted across Barcelona’s public spaces, libraries, and plazas, each bio-tree offers the opportunity to map to the needs of the area and to utilised by local stakeholders. They can host interactive engagements, and promote locally driven regeneration. Trees can be adapted to real-time data collection and mapping. The open source design can travel globally to fosters an active, co-created movement for urban biodiversity and sustainable living.
Material Development:
In collaboration with woody.bio and Damian from TransfoLab, work is underway to develop a biocomposite formula for the sculptures and action cards. Initial tests are promising, and next week the team will laser cut the first prototype ahead of the public workshop on February 24th.
We are just starting out on our Co-Design & prototyping phase so look out for our workshops to take part!
