About the project

Alejandra Bueno’s career encompasses artistic creation (audiovisuals and digital art), cultural management of exhibitions and events, and university teaching and research. As an artist, she develops visual work that explores the boundaries and intersections between art and technology from a gender perspective. She employs art as a transformative medium and a creator of unique experiences to foster critical thinking.
As a lecturer, she specialises in creativity, digital imagery, and audiovisual language. Since 2016, she has served as the director of the feminist video art festival FEM TOUR TRUCK. Currently, she is researching artificial intelligence from an intersectional feminist perspective as part of the FEMIAS collective.

Projects

JOKATU

The work Jokatu delves into the artist’s family archive and those of families from the capital of Álava to construct a journey through history using play as its medium. Within this framework, Jokatu offers a space for dialogue and confrontation with the past, challenging traditions and questioning the validity of imposed gender identities.

Through a series of sculptural installations intervened with drawing, stitching, and construction materials, the barriers between the viewer and the two-dimensional image are broken. The aim is to provide an experience that goes beyond mere observation, seeking instead to traverse sculpture and memory through the recollection of play.

BIGARREN BIHOTZA

A second heart is like a parallel drive seeking its own place between reality and fiction. This video creation is born under this premise, which becomes a vehicle inviting reflection on hidden affections, contradictions, and resistance within the female experience. In a generation so fictionalised, reality becomes a space for speculation. Second Heart represents the social constraints that sometimes bind us while also confronting us with the possibility of liberating the repressed, inviting us to explore the multiple dimensions of our identity in constant construction and deconstruction.

EZOHIKOAK

Ezohikoak is a video creation made with photographs provided by the Municipal Archive of Vitoria and Pilar Arostegi, made possible thanks to the Gazte Sortzaileak 2021 grant. This animated work, based on collage and the layering of real documents transformed by its director, in a way, plays with deconstructing the history of matriarchy by exposing manipulation through manipulation itself, creating a kind of metanarrative.
