¿Qué pasaría si pudiésemos cambiar el actual sistema de producción? ¿Reducir la huella ecológica de los productos, democratizar el acceso al diseño de calidad y ampliar el mercado para artesanos, diseñadores y consumidores?

En colaboración con el Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda y Fab Lab Barcelona, Distributed Design Platform comisaría la Jornada sobre artesanía y diseño distribuido para una producción sostenible para abordar estas y otras preguntas los días 10 y 11 de diciembre. Expertos nacionales e internacionales de primer nivel debatirán y analizarán las oportunidades que ofrecen las nuevas tecnologías de fabricación digital y diseño de materiales para repensar el presente a través de la artesanía. Se reflexionará sobre el largo viaje que deben recorrer los materiales y productos para llegar a manos del consumidor y cómo se pueden usar los beneficios de una sociedad globalmente conectada para para mover datos en vez de productos.

Esta primera edición de Crafts TECH, que se celebra en dos días seguidos, expertos del sector debatirán sobre temáticas como materiales, procesos, redes y distribuidores en el sector de la artesanía y el diseño. Las mesas redondas contarán con la moderación de Laura Miguel Bauman, Vicepresidenta de World Crafts Council en Europa, 

10 de diciembre – Materiales y Procesos

Contaremos con la participación de Guillem Camprodon, Director de Investigación de Fab Lab Barcelona que introducirá el tema diseño distribuido y las oportunidades que ofrece un Fab Lab. También compartirán experiencias ponentes como Óscar Tómico de ELISAVA, Anastasia Pistofidou de Fab Lab Barcelona, Felipe Fiallo, Toni Cumella de Ceràmica Cumella y Juan Pablo Quintero de Medio Design. 

11 de diciembre – Redes y Distribuidores 

El segundo día de la jornada contaremos con expertos en la creación de redes y plataformas para la producción local y la distribución global. Desde el uso de redes de intercambio de conocimiento, a los beneficios que aporta pertenecer a una comunidad internacional de reciclado de plástico, el panel de expertos nos contará cómo operan las redes de diseño distribuido. Tendremos el placer de escuchar a Alessandra Schmidt de Make Works de Fab Lab Barcelona, Agustín Arroyo de Wikifactory, Vicente Cánovas de Faberin and Pilar Bolumburu de Materiom.

El evento será en catalán y castellano. Con traducción simultánea a castellano.

Digital Program on Handcrafts and Distributed Design for Sustainable Production

What could happen if we were to alter the course of our current production system, reduce the ecological footprint of products, democratize access to quality design and expand the market for designers, artisans and consumers?

Distributed Design Platform, in collaboration with Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda and Fab Lab Barcelona will be hosting a digital program on “Handcrafts and Distributed Design for Sustainable Production on the 10th and 11th of December to explore these very questions. We have pulled together a panel of experts to discuss how we might analyse the opportunities offered by new technologies in digital manufacturing and materials design which will allow us to rethink the present state of ‘crafts’. In our current climate emergency, we must reconsider the life cycles of how we design and make, and critically the role that the citizens and the city have to play in evolving this narrative. Join us in exploring how we might create a more circular economy through the evolution of craft.

Online Agenda

This digital program will take place over two days, each with an introduction and presentation of the topic followed by a panel discussion with experts in their respective fields. The panel will be moderated by Laura Miguel Baumann, Vice President of the World Crafts Council . A translation from Catalan to Spanish will be provided. 

DECEMBER 10TH- MATERIALS AND PROCESSES

The first day of the program will feature Guillem Camprodon of Fab Lab Barcelona discussing the topic “Introducing Fab Labs and distributed design concept to the World.” As part of the roundtable discussion, we will also hear from speakers with extensive knowledge of digital fabrication and material design and development such as Óscar Tómico from ELISAVA, Anastasia Pistofidou from Fab Lab Barcelona, Felipe Fiallo, Toni Cumella from Ceràmica Cumella and Juan Pablo Quintero from Medio Design.

DECEMBER 11TH- NETWORKS AND DISTRIBUTORS

The second day of the program will feature makers who have a great understanding of what is required to build a network of localised production and global distribution. From creating a distributed knowledge network, to using local plastic waste to create eyewear, to creating an open-access directory of fabricators, material suppliers, workshops and manufacturers, this panel of experts has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to understanding how distributed design networks operate. We will hear from Alessandra Schmidt of Make Works at Fab Lab Barcelona, Agustín Arroyo of Wikifactory, Vicente Cánovas from Faberin and Pilar Bolumburu from Materiom.

This event will be in Catalan/Spanish with a live translation from Catalan to Spanish.
