Bilbao calls you!

Are you a designer/ artist/ creator working with digital fabrication tools? You want to travel free to Bilbao to grow your project with the help of professionals from the Fab Lab ecosystem? You want to exhibit your own project at Maker Faire Bilbao?

Do you create market oriented products and want to learn how to survive in the jungle?

Fablab Bilbao aka Espacio Open is calling interested designers and makers to submit their projects until Friday 19 October in order to participate in the Maker to Market Bootcamp!

 

The Maker to Market Bootcamp consists of two mentoring sessions on the 25th and 26th of October.

The sessions will help emerging talents to improve their skills in business strategy, storytelling and community building adapted to the new context of manufacturing and product sales in creative and cultural industries, which are linked to Fab Labs and the Maker Movement.

Six creators will be selected to go to Bilbao to design together with an interdisciplinary team a business strategy for their project and exhibit in the Maker Faire Bilbao 2018.

 

MAKER TO MARKET BOOTCAMP: HOW IT WORKS

KEY DATES:

  1. Monday 15 October – Friday 19 October : An Open call for designers/makers/creators interested in improving their skills
  2. Friday 19 October: Six projects from EU countries will be selected by a Evaluation Committee composed by maker/design/business strategy professionals. Selected ones will assist to the intensive sessions on thursday 25 and friday 26 october in Espacio Open’s headquarters in the Bilbao Old Cookie Factory.
  3. Thursday 25 October – Friday 26 October: The Maker to Market Bootcamp will take place in Fab Lab Bilbao with two mentoring sessions
  4. Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October 2018: Exhibition at Maker Faire Bilbao as part of the Distributed Design Market Platform

 

Espacio Open is looking for people with ongoing projects which are oriented to product sale and linked to Fab Labs and the Maker Movement. The call is open to any projects of professionals, students or amateurs who are in professionalisation process.

The projects must reflect some of the following aspects:

Is you design DISTRIBUTABLE and can travel globally to be manufactured locally?

Can the design take local availability into account and is based on globally available materials and hardware to be REPRODUCIBLE?

Does your design create VALUE for people, companies and society?

 

Maker to Market Bootcamp is an initiative by Espacio Open and its digital fabrication laboratory Fab Lab Bilbao, integrated in the Distributed Design Market Platform – DDMP
