Povera wants to answer the problem of the collection of the 7,315 tons of polyamide tights (the volume of 7 Olympic swimming pools) thrown in France every year. Today, there is no recycling solution … at best the tights are used as solid fuels for recovery or energy incineration. The yarn obtained is then knitted, crocheted or woven by hand, in a traditional way, to create rings, bracelets, headbands, plastrons, hair elastics and durable sponges.
