About the project
Alexandra Samandar is a media designer and artist specializing in interactive media and experimental video design. The focus of her work lies in combining analog and digital media and practices, including techniques like screen printing and projection mapping. She co-founded the cultural space Kollektiv Kaorle and the community garden collective Alsergarten in Vienna. Currently based in Graz, she is conducting a master project in data visualization for a documentary film that explores innovative methods of nitrogen production.
KOLLEKTIV KAORLE ///
Kollektiv Kaorle is a nonprofit organization based in Vienna, Austria, that provides a community-managed space for cultural exchange, craftsmanship, and neighborhood activities. Their focus is on fostering local art, cultural engagement, and social interaction in a collaborative environment.
Originally founded in 2020, the collective began by transforming an old storage space into a multifunctional cultural hub. Their new location in Ottakring, at Ottakringer Straße 201, includes a courtyard known as “Lido,” which serves as a public space for cultural events, workshops, and social gatherings.
Kollektiv Kaorle hosts various activities, including construction workshops, yoga classes, repair cafés, flea markets, concerts, and art exhibitions. The space is designed to be flexible, adapting to different uses such as co-working, performances, and educational programs.
The organization is committed to inclusivity and actively works against discrimination of any form. It operates on a collaborative basis, encouraging community participation.
