About the project
Vanessa Lorenzo Toquero is a product design engineer and a transdisciplinary researcher in the fields of science, art, and technology. She has international training in product design engineering and a master’s degree in media design and interaction. Her experience in industrial design, biofabrication, and digital prototyping has introduced her, in parallel, to the world of business innovation and interdisciplinary research. This has led her to conduct workshops on the importance of envisioning desirable near-futures, leveraging the methodology of speculative design, interaction with emerging (bio)technologies, and social innovation.
She based in Bilbao, where she works part-time at her studio Hybridoa.org where she also develops projects and public workshops that focus on the production of new knowledge through bio-practices of media, open-source philosophy and speculative design methodology.
Projects
MOSSPHONE
Mossphone is a hybrid digital interface enabling environmental data sonification.
CAMERA OBSCURA
Camera obscura, an interactive device to unveil the traces of industrial progress along main european rivers.
MARIMUTARE
Marimutare, a speculative AR prosthetic and biohacking experiment inspired by the pagan figure of the Greenmann seeking to challenge categories of identity, gender and embrace the plant-otherness within us.
About the approach
Open-ended, ecofeminist and speculative visions of design research and bio-practices of media in the context of designing futures.
