About the project
Tools for rehabilitation of fine motor skills
Studio 21st is a strategic design duo, consisting of Malou Frandsen and Thalia Steffensen.
With a stand in social sustainability, their goal is to create products that can improve people’s quality of life. To achieve that, Studio 21st collaborates with users and relevant actors throughout their design process, where they incorporate insights from observations, feedback and reflections into the product development.
Pupils are by nature energetic and they often have a big need for movement and activation of the sense of touch through fidgeting. In learning situations, pupils try to fulfill this need through different activities. These activities often make noises and create unnecessary disturbances and conflicts that challenge the good learning environment. Tactus is a tactile learning tool that acknowledges and meets pupils’ individual need for movement and activation of the sense of touch through an intuitive and noiseless use. It functions as a supplement to the existing learning situations, and is added to the pupils’ desks after their preference. Tactus contributes to a good learning environment, where both pupils and teachers can concentrate.
