About the project
LibreWater is an Open Source Solar Water Purification Project. A low-cost, modular desalination device is developed by the Blue Greece collective under the principles of Design Global, Manufacture Local. It has been co-designed with the local communities for the local communities, with the aim to provide a device that can be manufactured inside the FabCity Context. It tackles the issue of access to clean drinking water, not by simply providing a product, but by empowering the end users to build, repair and sell their own devices that can be easily adapted to the local context. The device should serve rural, off-grid communities around the world.
