About the project
Kantamanto Social Club is a community-driven upcycled fashion collective rooted in Ghana’s Kantamanto Market. It empowers the voices and practices of communities in the Global South, whose sustainable traditions have long been overlooked and undervalued by global systems. Through activism and knowledge sharing, the collective reclaims and amplifies these traditions, challenging dominant narratives in the fashion industry.
The collective seeks to disrupt power imbalances by fostering equitable dialogue between global fashion communities, industries and knowledge systems. It calls for a fundamental shift in the global textile industry, centring these communities as frontrunners of circular and regenerative fashion. In doing so, it envisions a future where these historically marginalised communities drive systemic change and shape a fairer, regenerative world.
