About the project

Chilote Shoes is a human-centred business model. Our positive impact wool slipper are handcrafted in Patagonia in a cooperative system of ethical production.

There is no factory. Each pair is made “slow” with care and pride by independent artisan women doing what they know and love: knitting. Our business model enables women to work from home, providing a fair and ethical source of income without having to leave their communities.

Our open and distributed production model lets each artisan add a personal touch to their craft and encourages the end-user to do the same through personalisation, reparation, and re-use activations. Chilote Shoes are Climate+Positive and B Corp certified, meaning that they are not just warm, beautiful and comfortable, but probably the smartest slippers you will ever wear.

The purchase of each pair directly empowers Patagonian communities to maintain their unique craft and culture.
