🌟 Call for Creative Talents 🌟

Are you a maker, designer or creator passionate about prototyping creative interventions? We invite you to join us in a co-design process aimed at tackling the challenges of noise pollution emanating from the vibrant nightlife around Plaza de la Virreina, in Barcelona.

This innitiative is a collaborative endeavor between the local neighbors of Plaza de la Virreina, LAB CSU, Lichen Social Innovation, IS Global, Ateneu de Fabricació de Gràcia, and Fab Lab Barcelona | IAAC seeking inventive solutions to take action and enhance coexistence and mitigate the impacts of nocturnal disturbances. Armed with a set of open source noise sensors, we aim to co-create solutions that help us take action and combat the noise pollution issues.

Here’s what awaits you as a participating creative talent:

🔬 Engage with Citizen Science: Get to know data collected from noise sensors, providing invaluable insights into the intricacies of the issue at hand.

💡 Prototype Solutions: The team will have a budget of  €3,000 to buy materials to prototype ideas that address the challenges of noise pollution.

🛠️ Technical Support: Benefit from the expertise and guidance of the Ateneu team and Lichen, ensuring the collective ideas are nurtured and brought to reality.

🌐 Access to Digital Fabrication Tools: You will have access to digital fabrication tools to materialize concepts arising from the collective minds.

Collaborators

This activity is being developed in the framework of the CitiObs Frontrunner Case Barcelona in collaboration with TÀNIA, Lichen Social Innovation, Ateneu de Fabricació de Gràcia. The EU-funded research project CitiObs aims to enhance Citizen Observatories for healthy, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities, using co-creation for inclusive, local actions. The intervention in Barcelona is organized by Lichen Social Innovation, Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), LAB CSU, Ateneu de Fabricació de Gràcia and Fab Lab Barcelona as part of the CitiObs Case in Barcelona.

TÀNIA is a project of participation, technology, coexistence and urban health that focuses on promoting spaces for citizen participation in environments with conflicting uses and thus improve coexistence by increasing the co-responsibility of all parties. The project aims to implement a social and technological solution in a participatory manner to help reduce the acoustic impact in squares where there is noise from nightlife in the terraces, specifically for this pilot test, in the Plaça de la Virreina in the neighborhood of Vila de Gràcia.

Lichen Social Innovation co-creates innovative and inclusive solutions to address today’s major challenges under the principle of co-responsibility and collective intelligence in order to generate a positive impact.

IS Global is a scientific research and knowledge transfer centre dedicated to global health.

Ateneu de Fabricació de Gràcia is a public space for training and creation of digital fabrication projects linked to new technologies and, in particular, to digital fabrication, supporting pedagogical and social innovation projects driven by citizens and reinforcing the return to shared knowledge.
