3D printing recycled plastic vases sustainability DIY

Short Description

REVASE is a set of 3D printed elements, which allow us to turn already owned objects into fun vases.

Detailed Description

It's high time we start rediscovering things we already own. REVASE is a set of 3D printed elements which allow us to create limitless compositions with objects we already have at our homes. Old glasses, cups, bottles-literally anything has a potential to become a vase, a candleholder or an abstract decorative object. It's an invitation for you to play with composition and colour-it's completely up to you and your imagination what you'll create. Also rediscovering already owned things has a second meaning - plastic. It should be treated as a valuable resource rather than a trash. Why don't we start to come up with creative solutions to make use of that? It can be repurposed in so many ways and one of them is filament for 3D printing. REVASE is an open source project which can be 3D printed by everyone using their own 3D printer - no need for mass production nor transportation. And in near future it could be printed mostly using filament from recycled plastic.

Project Details

Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?

We're living in strange times when possessing too much things became a problem for human wellbeing. People are feeling overwhelmed by omnipresent objects. We should start rediscovering things we already own and simply enjoy every little thing without the need for possessing more.

Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?

Plastic should be treated as a valuable resource rather than a trash. We have to start to come up with creative solutions to make use of that. REVASE is a project which can be produced from recycled plastic thanks to used 3D printing technology.

Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?

REVASE files are free to download and can be printed by everyone using their own 3D printer.

Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?

We've reached the point when we should ask a question if we need to own more things. REVASE is a tool for everybody to start rediscovering things we already have at our homes. Why would we need another fancy vase or a candleholder when our old glass or a bottle can become one? REVASE is an invitation for us to play with composition, color and objects which otherwise would only collect dust on our shelves. Just give them a new life!
