Short Description

Regrow is a family of tools for urban farming in small spaces.

Detailed Description

Regrow aims to promote more sustainable lifestyles and habits by creating a new relationship between urban dwellers and food. The core idea is to grow awareness on the importance of food - which is commonly took for granted in western countries - and on all the problems related to the food industry. To reach its goal, Regrow aims to make citizens grow their own food in small, interstitial urban spaces that are converted in shared food gardens, called Growspaces. Regrow supplies urban farmers with a family of tools - the Growtools - specifically designed to optimize the limited available space to grow food in the Growspaces. There are four tools in the Growtools family: Grow_vase is a modular and stackable sistem of planters; Grow_ climb is designed to grow climbing plants; Grow_house is a micro-greenhouse and Grow_wall is a wall vase. The Growtools are designed to be 3D printed or laser cut, making them completely customizable.

The Growspaces are regenerated spots, tranformed from neglected spaces into shared, food-producing areas.
The Growtools are designed to be 3D printed in big dimensions using recycled plastic or wood panels.

Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?

The Growtools are designed to be produced using the digital fabrication technologies: the CAD files to make them are open-source and can be customized by the users if they are willing to.

Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?

Regrow aims to grow awareness on the problems related to the food industry, promoting more sustainable consumption patterns and habits.
