A bedside table designed to meet the real needs of the patient and improve his human care experiece.

Detailed Description

The patient's friend is a bedside table designed for the elderly and / or people with walking difficulties mainly for the hospital environment or retirement home.
It is a two-faced bedside table, equipped with wheels, consisting of:
-an integrated over-bed table
-a drawer for precious objects
-a drawer for non-precious objects
- an open form for objects that are used often / daily.
The modules can be rotated 360 ° thanks to the insertion of ball bearings between one module and another. This mechanism allows the user to reach and take objects more easily.
The goal of the project is to improve the accessibility and use of spaces for people with different sensory deficiencies: visual, motor or cognitive deficiencies,
and to help create a pleasant environment conducive to the well-being and health of patients and healthcare professionals.

Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?: The project focuses on improving the patient's experience of hospitalization, through the development of a bedside table that is the most suitable for the patient, that is, conceived and developed to meet his or her real needs.

Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?: Corian® was used to make the bedside table structure.

Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?: The bedside table itself is made through industrial production. However, it is well known that inside a hospital / retirement home patients have different needs: for this reason inside the drawers it is possible to find objects made using additive production methods (3d printing): the most effective method to create products on measure.
