Detailed Description

Sheyn is a Vienna-based design studio, founded by Nicolas Gold and Markus Schaffer.

The studio utilizes the tools and thinking of architecture to create fully digital designs for the nape of your neck, that place on your desk, your little finger and everywhere else in your life that could be a bit more Sheyn. Each piece is created using state-of-the-art modeling and fabrication techniques.

The word Sheyn, itself, means beautiful in Yiddish. It was created through cultural exchange and a longing for beauty – like all of our products.

Project Details

Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?: We believe that beauty and aesthetics bring joy to the wellbeing of each one of us, and that's our focus when we design objects.

Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?: - All our designs are produced in our studio in Vienna.
- For the production we use PLA - a recyclable compound made of cornstarch.
- 3D printing technologies creates little to no waste. For the production of every design only the object itself is printed - no molds, no support structures, no waste.

Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?: Thanks to the power of 3D printing, we believe that local production is the future of consumer goods. Our vision for the future is to have small hubs around the world, were all our designs will be printed close to the end customer. This will reduce environmental emissions and will cut taxes and duties.

Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?: Every 3D printed object exists only after being ordered - we do not create any overstock.
