Tri-angle lamp, an Ikea frekvens hack

Detailed Description

My project was to create an object that is completely open-source and can be made by anyone. I wanted to create a lamp where I used the tools of open design and design modding, and that’s how the tri-angle Ikea frekvens hack was born. The product is fully 3D printable; you can download and print it as it doesn’t require any support material. Every little detail is optimized for 3D printing. The product uses the Ikea Frekvens led on which you can create any animation using Feather M0. Through design modding and open design, we can leave out the environmental impact of factories, shipping, and packing because the base components are already made and the rest of the design is shipped through data. These methods are better for our planet and go against the ideologies of corporations and capitalism.

Project Details

In your project's current stage of development, how does it align with the OPENNESS value of the Distributed Design Platform?

In my project, open source is the main motivational force, making a community throught design and giving a platform where people can help out eachother and hack together. So very relevant.

In your project's current stage of development, how does it align with the COLLABORATIVE value of the Distributed Design Platform?

I feel like in my work the users are the co-designers because they point out every little detail that could be improved and they can also solve them. Its relevant.

In your project's current stage of development, how does it align with the REGENERATIVE value of the Distributed Design Platform?

I wanted to make a product which you can upgrade and redesign if you want something new. I wanted to say no to mass production with making my full product downloadable and 3D printable. I would say its very relevant for the project.

In your project's current stage of development, how does it align with the ECOSYSTEMIC value of the Distributed Design Platform?

In the research of open source I realized how easy it can be on our planet, so thats one of the reason I choose this field for my project. I wanted to cut out harmful gases, wasted packageing, transportation and also big factories to make my product. I used open design and design modding because in design modding i can upgrade a already existing product and with open design i can share it with everyone easy. Here in Hungary we usually go to Fablabs to make, and my product was aim for those who wanna go to community labs and make together. For my project its very relevant and important.
