Short Description
Stylish, locally sourced planters produced almost entirely from unused ceramic waste.
Detailed Description
With much of the world still under coronavirus lockdown, turning to indoor gardening is one of the most stress-relieving activities, one that can equally brighten up the very place many of us are now confined to – our own homes. Since choosing the right plant pot can be quite a daunting task, we’ve teamed up with the award-winning Studio deFORM in order to offer an elegant, sustainable solution at an affordable price.
As a result of meticulous research into the lives and needs of indoor plants, the pots are almost entirely covered by the elevated saucer, playing with the contrast of structures and colours within. Project Details
- Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?
Firstly, planters are designed to help people take care of their house plants in as efficient way as possible. House plants are known to have positive psychological effects on our wellbeing but it can take a stressful turn when your plants don't thrive as a result of poor plant care. We've spent a lot of time testing the planter so that it fulfils all the needs of all our favourite green foliage.
- Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?
The planters come in four combinations: cream, terracota, brown, and "circular". The first three are made of locally sourced clay (clay mines in central Bohemia), the circular version is then made entirely from scraps of clay that wouldn't be used otherwise. Plus, it's made locally in Prague, paying fair wages to everyone involved in its production.
- Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?
We strive to promote the two in every single step of our business journey. We champion fair remuneration, locally sourced materials, promoting the sustainable design and consumption through dedicated narrative and finally setting affordable prices so that more people can access those products.
