Detailed Description
How can cycling in winter be made better? Abrigo Studio offers a new, unique value proposition. Heated bicycle saddle covers, made from sustainable textiles and using a customer-centric, USB-driven electrical solution. This aims to disrupt the cycling industry, in the same way that car seat heating has done for the automotive industry.
Project Details
- Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?
Cycling has skyrocketed since COVID-19. As a new normal emerges, so too do transport forms that are greener, more efficient and fun. Wellbeing hinges on having a good time and being active. I aim to take cycling from seasonal to year round.
- Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?
I employ circular design principles by utilising high-grade, recycled textiles.
In time, I hope to create an even more eco-friendly way of powering the product.
- Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?
I am currently on a Distributed Design residency program here in Copenhagen, being hosted at UnderBroen. As part of this, I have entered the Wikifactory forum and hope to get more engaged as my project progresses!
- Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?
I post about Abrigo Studio on my LinkedIn page, and have attracted quite a following. My last couple of posts exceeded 1500+ views. I am vociferous about my passion for sustainability and entrepreneurship.
