About the project

MaterialeX is a biomaterial research kit enabling science and learning to happen in any setting.

Engaging with topics such as material science, art, technology and engineering to ask the question of “where, what and why” and provoking the question of what comes next and how can we become more aware of materials in our everyday settings.

The kit provides 10 samples, recipes made using everyday items including food waste and materials you can easily purchase to create alternatives to plastic, leather and concrete. The kit also contains a mould for application use and a stamping tool to create textures, all made with biodegradable materials, able to be re-distributed or replicated if broken or more are needed.

The boxes have QR codes on allowing them to link up to the website to share knowledge and creations with a global audience whilst promoting transparency and open source methodologies.

I am a self taught biologist and maker, creating change and impact via non formal education within the maker/science field. I want to make learning fun and easy and is driven by a wish to engage, educate and inspire a new change within the maker mindset, asking important questions and visualizing how we can fix them.

Since 2016 I have, under the alias “Little Pink Maker”, done more than refine an education system: I’ve started a new one. Guided by an international network, I work to fuse unique educational methods within the fields of history, engineering, arts and science to create and produce interesting workshops, talks and programmes.
