About the project
The Numid project aims to raise awareness about problems within our current food system, such as waste and ecologically unfriendly industrial farming processes, and design open source solutions to combat them. For a primary stage of the project, we have designed open source solutions to keep vegetables alive throughout the entirety of the food supply chain, in an effort to reduce food waste. The system keeps plants planted until they reach the consumer so that they stay alive and fresh until we eat them. We invite anyone involved or with curiosity for the topic to try to make our easy-to-do hydroponic system for both growing and distributing plants. You can even customise the product by making improvements to the open source design. We imagine a food chain were plants are living in shops and in homes.
