About the project

About the project

This project originates from my textile engineering thesis at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. The goal of this project was to create a dress from scratch using a 3D printer. This included the development of the textile design, pattern design, experimentation with filaments, printing of the different parts, and assembling them together.

The inspiration for this dress comes from lace details, which create a dialogue between craftsmanship and technology, between traditional artistry and additive manufacturing. Throughout the process, there were many challenges to overcome, all of which contributed to the final result and allowed me to learn from this project.

About the talent

I am Joana Meyer Duró, a Textile Engineering student at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Currently, I am developing my personal brand, Joana Michaela, to enhance different projects through constant collaboration with various artists and designers. My goal is to bring my creative vision into the world of additive manufacturing.

I am fascinated by delicate objects and garments, as well as things made with intention and awareness, which are inherently more sustainable and elevate the value of craftsmanship. This is exactly what I aim to reflect in my work.
