About the project

The “Défait son lit” project suggests no longer “making your bed” but unmaking it. The bedtime ritual changes, adapts, to no longer think of the responses to sleep needs as a block object, but as a system of stratification of sleep-related needs according to temperature. Before adding cool, we will remove heat, which means removing material, changing and rethinking the way of inhabiting your bed, getting out of the monolith of the bed.

The project is made up of 3 retractable layers: a so-called “support” layer, a mobile bed base that is included in contact with the body. Designed like a net, it minimizes the direct surface of contact between the body and facilitates the circulation of air and body heat. For the summer, a so-called “comfort” layer adapts to individual heat needs. This mattress topper retains the idea of circulating air. In addition, a modular screen supports cooling thanks to its action of evaporating the water sprayed on the fabric beforehand.
