Detailed Description

"Learning Machine aims to reserach and question which practices linked to prototyping allow us to question the classic systems of knowledge production. To explore tensions and opportunities that intertwine experience with the direct learning of tacit knowledge.
In this case starting from machines that are presented as a method of research in design, as a platform for expression and immediate tool that activates experiences, where thinking with others is not limited to the human, in a performative way. Machines that perform a doing that wanders between the logics of digital and craft production, inhabiting and exploring an uncertain threshold of agencies mediated by matter.
The prototyping of the machines questions the paradigms of knowledge, tensions them and makes it possible to embody knowledge that can later be transferred through design as a tool where this knowledge concludes.

Project Details

Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?

Learning Machines displaces the human from the center of thought, giving agency to the materials that build the project in a horizontal relationship. At a time when we urgently have to learn to take a step back and give place and the importance they deserve to other forces, materials, machines and other animals.

Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?

The whole project is exposed in an open way. Each experimentation is detailed and shared and the machines that are finally produced in workshops share the plans and the process in downloadable format.

Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?

It's a project that encourages us to err, try, ask, materialize, construct, document and experiment in a corporeal way in order to learn, because as I have been defending, I consider that only through our own experience and learning can we construct our own gaze in front of the world and the practice that occupies us in design.
