Short Description

(NEO) WASTE consists of seven stools formed from a different biomaterials.

Detailed Description

(NEO) WASTE consists of seven stools formed from a previously conducted material investigation, where it intends to reflect on the generation of new materials from the waste we produce on a day-to-day basis. A part of the material research emphasizes how objects and production methods are reinterpreted where the user is involved as part of the design process.
From the waste generated at home, the user can use their waste to generate their own designs by mixing them with natural products that we can have at hand in any home and thus give them a new life. In this way, it is no longer recycled in containers but rather a domestic process is carried out where it is the user himself who generates the object with his own biomaterial.

Project Details

Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?

It aims to open a learning path to generate new knowledge networks while reflecting and modifying the current culture of design, involving users and inviting them to a relationship and an act in a different way with different materials in everyday life.

Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?

With this project, I want to re-introduce the waste into this circle to give a new use and value to the biomaterial. Waste is no longer recycled but used to generate new materials. This hybrid material is composed by the waste generated and also natural ingredients that we all have at home.

Does your design use principles of distribution and open source?

The project also consists of a web page that can be used as a open platform for users to access to the recipe book of the materials, so that new objects can be used in turn, encouraging the incorporation of new recipes in order to increase the variety and the designs with new models or products.

Does your design promote awareness of responsible design and consumption?

Once the purpose is accomplished, it is to instill in the public that critical look with which to analyze a fact that occurs daily and how it can be given another utility without the need to consume energy in the disposal of waste in recycling plants.
Finally, we want to encourage citizens to see beyond their usual function, new opportunities based on a hybrid design, which allows them to be given a new function, against excessive consumption of objects to use and throw away, experimenting with materials.
