Short Description

The project is about a drone delivery system used to transport medical equipment, located in Vienna.

Detailed Description

AKH Vienna is one of the largest hospitals in Europe. Hospitals in particular are highly sensitive places during the current pandemic. To disencumber them is crucial for combating the pandemic. On the one hand, vulnerable patients, and medical personnel need to be protected. On the other hand, the capacity of the Hospitals themselves is important. The project suggests drones to transport test kits and samples from patients to test centers. For suspected COVID 19 cases, social distancing and quarantine are essential. Therefore a minimum of direct contact of individuals to reduce infections is necessary. Drones could bring the PCR test to potentially infected people without direct contact from human to human and deliver tests to a laboratory. Furthermore, medication, first aid equipment, and even blood preservations can be carried out in non-pandemic times. Automated disinfection of the drone on the landing location, ensures that the drone itself doesn`t get a carrier of Diseases.

Project Details

Does your design take social and cultural challenges and human wellbeing into consideration?

During a pandemic, the drones can carry out PCR tests to minimize infections caused by direct contact of individuals. In non-pandemic times the drones can be used as first responders for emergency situations. Human wellbeing is the drone's mission.

Does your design support sustainable production, embodying circular or regenerative design practices?

The drones can be fabricated out of recycled plastic.
